The 2008 Olympic Women's Soccer Tournament got off to a start today with Canada beating Argentina 2-1, Japan and New Zealand drawing 2-2, and Gold medal contenders Germany and Brazil ending in a scoreless draw 0-0.The USA women got behind 2-0 early against Norway and despite a strong second half, could not score a goal. They have a chance to work their way back into contention Saturday against Japan but they'll need to collect all three points. Ironically, Norway lost to the US Women 2-0 in the 2000 Olympics but still managed to win the gold medal.
Host China threw down their marker for the gold early with a 2-1 win over Sweden while South Korea beat Nigeria 1-0.
